Zalando Beauty

The online retailer Zalando is venturing into offline territory with a 160 m2 storefront where it will sell its cosmetic products. The new concept store in Berlin’s Mitte district is the answer not only to millenials’ beauty questions, but also to shopfitting. The new beauty ideal: 1.6 tonnes of concrete and upcycled yogurt containers. All the fittings for this innovative concept were developed by Vizona specifically to the architects’ specifications.

The walls have been clad in corrugated metal, which is quite unconventional in shopfitting, and the high-end shelving is made of recycled plastic. Vizona was able to deliver the exclusive choice of materials and suppliers on a tight deadline by enforcing strict project management. In this way, it was able to ensure timely delivery not only of a four-metre long stainless steel table with retractable mirrors, but also of a wash basin constructed of two beautiful 800-kilo pieces of exposed concrete directly from a concrete casting specialist in Berlin.
