Motel One
Scottish flair … straight out of Germany
With its redesign operations and short intervals between refurbishments, Motel One aims to present its hotels in consistently high quality with locally inspired designs. The Motel One Edinburgh-Royal is the second large-scale concept Vizona has implemented for the budget design hotel group — from furniture manufacture to all on-site work as general contractor. The historical building near Edinburgh Castle has 205 highly individual room floor plans and the furniture concept had to be integrated into each one — all the work being carried out during normal hotel operations. To achieve this feat, nearly 100 trucks were brought across the English Channel and straight into the city centre of Scotland’s capital. The result of the joint achievements radiates genuine Scottish flair: oak timbers stained in accordance with the customer’s wishes, natural stone tables, white coffered ceilings. And a foyer with a lounge where guests can literally sense the naturalness and conviviality of the Scottish Highlands.
