Care instructions wood board

The right care for long-lasting enjoyment

Regular oil treatment protects the wood from moisture, emphasizes the grain, and preserves the natural beauty of your end grain board.

Our Christmas present this year embodies the values our company stands for and is committed to: Visible, tangible quality. Sustainability that lasts beyond the moment. And durability, because we believe in things that endure.

The end-grain cutting board is not just a kitchen aid: It is a companion for life and beyond.

Made of FSC-certified, regenerative natural materials, each board is unique from the Black Forest. It is cut not simply from timber, but from end-grain wood, i.e. the head-grain side of a tree trunk. That makes it particularly robust and durable. And the cuts you make land in the grains, rather than between them. That preserves your knife blades. With the right care materials, which we have included, it will perform loyal service for many years.

  • Wipe with a damp cloth after use.
  • No long soaking in water and no cleaning in the dishwasher!
  • If necessary, clean with a mild detergent and then allow to dry thoroughly.
  • From time to time (every few months, depending on use), lightly sand the surface with a fine sanding fleece (e.g., 240–320 grit) to open the pores and smooth out any unevenness.
  • Then apply a thin layer of linseed oil varnish evenly with a soft cloth or brush.
  • Allow the oil to soak in for about 20–30 minutes, then carefully wipe off any excess oil with a clean cloth.
  • Allow the board to dry for 24 hours before using it again.
  • Caution with oil-soaked cloths: These can spontaneously combust. After use, soak them in water or store them airtight in a metal container and dispose of them properly.
